After over 4500 registrations about the Meghalaya Youth Network (MYN) – a cellular program launched by Meghalaya authorities in July this year to associate youngsters with all the companies – the nation is aiming to supply about 2600 jobs to the youth and also encourage 500 entrepreneurs by next year. Included in this one-year undertaking, many companies such as Oyo Rooms, Interglobe technology solutions and Bankbazaar will amuse around 700 kids for multiple project roles through the 2nd two-day positioning driveway being organised in Shillong this past week.

The recruited applicants will get a grant of Rs 15,000 on finishing the two-month training, followed by yet another Rs 15,000 as positioning completion incentive after finishing three months at work.

Audrey, skill improvement officer, Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), states there is not any dearth of opportunities but there’s a need to alter the mindset of kids that are reluctant to expand the horizons. “Under the programme, both pupils and their parents are given counselling to enlarge their horizons. As a result of very simple way of life, the young generation in Meghalaya isn’t really aspirational, and we expect to change this mentality in the next several years,” she adds. The migrating pupils must plan to become ambassadors from the corporate world, representing Meghalaya.”

The highest registrations are obtained in the 18-25 years age category, such as from bachelors and masters levels, say Shailendra Sharma, manager, Education and Skills Development, IPE Global.

“Many of these skilling initiatives are coaching pushed, but through SCHDM, pupils are hired and trained in accordance with the companies’ requirements. 250 pupils were put throughout the work push in September and today, we’ll be tracking the retention of the childhood in the businesses,” he adds.
